Feeding The Hungry

Golden Harvest Food BankWe have designated our 1st Sunday altar fund to help feed the hungry.  We are committed to giving each month to Golden Harvest, who helps feed the poor in our community. As you come to the altar, remember the hungry, and your God, and please be generous.

About Golden Harvest

Food insecurity in the area served by Golden Harvest Food Bank has skyrocketed in recent years to 18.6%, representing more than 230,000 individuals who have uncertain access to sufficient food. To meet his need, Golden Harvest distributes food to the hungry through a network of more than 350 nonprofit partner agencies. Last year, food distribution in our 30 county-service territory topped 14.2 million pounds, or more than 1 million pounds of food per month.

The general food distribution program gathers food from private donations, government programs, and corporate partnerships. Food is inspected for quality and warehoused until it is selected by one of our partner agencies through the online ordering platform or our warehouse shopping areas. Our partners are food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, and children’s programs who minister directly to the hungry in their community. By partnering with these local agencies and mobilizing a force of more than 6,000 volunteers, Golden Harvest Food Bank is able to multiply the effect of every donation and distribute more than $5 worth of food for every dollar donated. Food distributed through Golden Harvest Food Bank’s agencies provides a critical safety net to families and individuals who would otherwise go hungry.
