September Church Council Highlights

Trustees: Gary Mason reported the social hall floor finished and poles will be painted and wallpaper repaired soon. The Committee is looking at replacing the ceiling tiles and installing rails in the choir loft.

United Methodist Men: Milton Gray announced the BBQ fundraiser is scheduled for October 24 and tickets can be purchased from any UMM member for $7/plate. The September meeting has been moved to October 1 due to a scheduling conflict.

Finance: Mitchell Fagler reported the budget was in good standing. Expenses for the social hall will appear in the August budget report and although the work is over budget, the maintenance reserve will take care of the extra money spent.

55+ and Alive: The September meeting will be at 6:00 p.m. in our social. The hosts plan to serve supper for $5. Please call Ted or Sue to make your reservations by Friday, September 18. They will play Bingo at this event.

Kitchen: Kathy Palmer says they are ready to kick off the Wednesday night Family Suppers this week, September 9. There will be no supper served on Nov. 25, Dec. 23, Dec. 30, and Jan. 6.

Children’s: Melinda Hall is pleased everyone is excited about the new Deep Blue Kids curriculum and she is joined by (edit – 2 new teachers) Sue Stockholm and Missy Brenton. The Children are scheduled to sing at the care homes on September 16 and in the 11 AM Worship service on September 20.

Music: Connie Peebles announced Phil Parkey came to inspect the organ, perform some minor maintenance and will provide a detailed list of work that is overdue and will be done a little at a time in the coming weeks/months.
